Useful Information

Osgood Center Studentselcome to the Osgood Center, the premier foreign policy program in the heart of Washington, D.C.

The Osgood Center is a non-profit educational organization that offers short-term foreign policy programs and experiential learning to graduate, college, and high school students from around the globe.  Regular attendance cost is extremely competitive with comparable programs, and limited scholarships and group rates are available.

Osgood Center programs are thought-provoking, experiential, and solution focused.  Students come face-to-face with foreign policy and international leaders, including experts from the U.S. State Department, U.S. Defense Department, National Security Council at the White House, U.S. Congress, and premier think tanks.  From U.S. diplomats to ambassadors representing foreign nations, Osgood Center students interact with leading thinkers and operators who provide a wealth of experience and offer an inside view into the foreign policy establishment:  how it works, how the various components interact with each other, and how we can work to make the world a better place for all people.  Osgood Center students have a front row seat on the foreign policy stage and often end up finding opportunities to contribute themselves.

At the Osgood Center, our mission is to advance understanding of public affairs and contemporary international issues.  We positively affect the lives of our participants and prepare them to be better global citizens through quality educational experiences that emphasize short-term learning programs and experiential learning.  Our vision is a generation of young people who strive to understand public policy issues and work to find creative solutions to global problems.  Osgood Center programs allow students to explore international relations, examine global business relationships, learn Arabic, participate in the annual fall Model United Nations program, or even create programs specifically tailored to special regional interests.  In 2009, the Osgood Center took a group to China, and will celebrate the 29th year of the two-week Summer Symposium on Foreign Policy.  Our programs are enhanced by groups of students from the U.S., Morocco, China, Romania, Germany, Italy, Nepal, and Turkmenistan to name only a few.

The Osgood Center is named after Robert E. Osgood, a highly respected expert in foreign policy and the author of several significant texts on international relations, and his wife Gretchen A. Osgood, a highly respected public servant who spent 24 years working for the Public Health Service.

Osgood Center’s DC programs are supplemented by tours and experiences only available in the nation’s capital—from tours of significant buildings like the U.S. Capitol and the Pentagon to opportunities to see dozens of foreign embassies in a single afternoon.

At the Osgood Center, we respect international boundaries as we build bridges.  Come join us!
