Invitational
Model United Nations
for High School Students
August 20-22, 2010
Washington, DC
Welcome to the
Invitational Model UN (IMUN)
in Washington, DC!
IMUN is a high school conference designed for
high school students from around the world.
Model
United Nations is a simulation of the real United Nations. School teams
are assigned to different countries with teams of students representing
different UN committees. After extensive research on their countries’
policies toward specific topics, students work within their respective
committees together to formulate resolutions and reports, the tools that
the United Nations use to initiate action that affects the world.
IMUN is an exciting way
for students to learn about the cutting edge issues in international
affairs. It increases their awareness of different systems of
government, international law, and international organizations while
allowing them to gain valuable researching, public speaking, and
decision-making skills.
