Donations to the Osgood Center

REMINDER TO DONORS: If you make a charitable contribution and itemize deductions on your tax returns, you can deduct your donations "in the year made," the Internal Revenue Service says.

That means any donations you charge to a credit card before the end of a calendar year.," the IRS said in a recent news release. "This is true even if the credit-card bill isn't paid until the following year."

The IRS also said that donations by checks "count for a previous year as long as they are mailed by December 31 and clear shortly thereafter."

However, taxpayers who claim the standard deduction can't deduct charitable donations. Nearly two-thirds of all federal income-tax returns take the standard deduction, rather than itemizing.

Like all 501C3 organizations, the Osgood Center accepts donations. We pledge that all donations will go to student support either through scholarships, class or group discounts, or services (local transportation, receptions, etc). Any exceptions to this will be rare and explicitly identified to the donor.

Osgood Center Payment Protocols:

The Osgood Center for International studies requires that all participants pay the non-refundable application ($125.00), prior to subsequent registration and securing a reservation spot in Osgood Center programs.



In order to secure placement in Osgood Center programming, all Osgood Center participants should submit program payment in-full one (1) month, or 30 days in advance, of the Osgood Center program in which the participant is registering. Any payments missed past this deadline may result in a cancellation of registration in the relevant program. If paying by check, ensure that the envelope is postmarked on or by the required payment day to ensure registration in the relevant program.



Due to the cost incurred to the Osgood Center on last minute hotel cancellations, the Osgood Center requires hotel payment to be made in full at least, one (1) month, or 30 days prior to check-in date. Reservations may be dropped if payment is not made by this deadline. If paying by check, ensure that the envelope is postmarked on or by the required payment day to ensure registration in the relevant program.
